Protein. What is it and why is it the best thing for you.
There’s a saying that for physical development, 70% of the work is done in the kitchen. I do not necessarily agree with that percentage but yes, you are what you eat.
The human body is literally made up of protein. It can be found In every cell and tissue in the human anatomy.
Protein is made of amino acids ,which join together to form a chain and are responsible for the growth and maintenance of tissue in the body .
There are over 500 known amino acids in nature,20 of these amino acid are necessary for a functional human . 11 of this 20 are considered unessential acids and are naturally produced in the human body. 9 of these amino acids are called essential amino acids,as they cannot be produced by the human body and must be consumed through food. These amino acids aid in repairing muscle tears induced through strength training, leading to muscles healing faster and stronger than before. Certain amino acids are responsible for producing energy and reducing fatigue during and after exercise. Amino acids are also actively responsible for regulating blood sugar levels and lowering cholesterol. Collagen and calcium which keeps the bones , cartilages, and tendons strong is also absorbed into the body by amino acids .
Every reaction in the human body is regulated by enzymes . These little biological molecules control the physiological reactions in our bodies daily . Enzymes control the speed of digestion and energy production. Now check this , enzymes are a type of protein ๐น.
A steady supply of animal and plant protein in your diet is recommended with a strong emphasis on animal protein.
Animal protein like chicken, eggs, fish, shrimps, beef , contain all the essential amino acids the body needs for full function.
Plant protein like soy, quinoa and beans contain the nine essential amino acids but a lot of plant protein do not contain all nine, so variety in plant protein selection is advised for individuals on a strictly plant diet.
A recommended alternative is whey protein, found in dairy products like milk , cheese and yogurts. Whey protein is a great source of instant protein as it is drinkable and fast digesting, supplying that quick large shot of protein needed to kickstart muscle protein synthesis after sufficient strength train training ๐. Whey protein also contains all nine essential amino acids needed by the body.
In summary, eating more protein is essential for sustainable growth and function in the human body.
